Midwife Mohelet

We found Esther to be extraordinarily warm and compassionate. We are an interfaith marriage and appreciated Esther's steady presence, calming our nerves and including everyone in the ceremony.

She explained each element of the ritual and our entire family felt as though they were part of something special. We appreciated that she recognized this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for us, not just something to get through.

We highly recommend Esther as a mohelet. If we were to have another boy, we would definitely ask her to be our mohelet again.

We moved to the north shore when I was 7 months pregnant and we knew we were having a boy, so thoughts of planning the brit milah were swimming in our minds. We didn’t know anyone and we had two short months to find a mohel that we connected with and trusted.

At our first widwife appointment in Beverly, we met Esther who welcomed us, made us laugh, and said that she was a mohelet. Perfect!   She helped us understand what we needed to do to prepare for the ceremony, so that by the morning of the brit milah everything was set and ready.

Esther arrived at our house calm and steady and through the messiness of family gathering eight days postpartum, she easily directed everyone into their places. I didn’t have time to read the program before we began and was taken aback by its beauty. What she prepared for us to read had me in tears. The prayers felt unexpectedly profound, healing, and relevant in our modern world. The ceremony itself was hypnotic with song. A friend and mother of 4 boys was astonished at how quickly and with such skill her hands performed the circumcision. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

We were so grateful to work with Esther for our son’s Brit Milah. She was organized, thorough, and thoughtful throughout the entire process of creating a meaningful ceremony.

Esther developed a beautiful program for attendees to follow along (on zoom) and the ceremony reflected our values of social justice.

Esther explained the service, making it accessible for all attendees and her warm demeanor made us, the parents, feel cared for during this vulnerable and important moment for our son.
